Pink Breast Cancer Local Fundraising Month

Friday 23rd June is Pink Ribbon Day, and we wanted to celebrate this as well as give back to our community and promote the new Upper South East Women’s Cancer Support Group.

We asked our new U.S.E. McGrath Foundation Breast Cancer Nurse what was needed in our region, and she told us all about how many Cancer patients also end up with Lymphoedema, but this can be avoided or ‘nipped in the bud’ if you have the right equipment.

The Lower South East has a SOZO Lymphoedema Analysis machine, but there wasn’t enough funding for a second machine (worth $17,500) up here. That means that patients from Keith to Bordertown and Naracoorte and everywhere in between, have to travel to Mount Gambier for this life-changing analysis.

Cancer-related Lymphoedema of the arms and legs develops in stages. When it is caught early, before feeling any symptoms, it can be treated and stopped before it gets worse and becomes a life-long condition.

So, from the 23rd June until 23rd July, we will donate $5 from each bottle of wine sold at Cellar Door or Online, towards the purchase of a SOZO Lymphoedema Analysis machine, for the Upper South East region of South Australia.

We will be kicking off the month with a “PINK” day at our Cellar Door & Wine Bar in Naracoorte on Friday 23rd June from 12-8pm. Please wear something pink and come along to help the cause if you can.

We’d love to see you there, and we will keep you posted on our fundraising tally throughout the month.
