The Duchess

2021-duchess+winestate

New Release ~ Awarded 97 points and 4.5 stars by Winestate Magazine!

The Duchess 2021 Riesling was grown in the magnificent volcanic soils near Mount Gambier in the Limestone Coast of South Australia.

Colour: Very light straw with greenish edge

Bouquet: Perfumed and delicate apple and orange blossoms

Palate: Flavours are of apple and mandarin with balanced acidity.

Cellaring: There will be plenty of time to enjoy this wine. High natural acidity will keep it fresh and vibrant  for the next three to seven years.

Vinification: Machine harvest during the cool early hours of the morning is delayed until the acidity in the grapes drops to a palatable level.  By this time the flavours have developed nicely.  Fermentation is cool and slow with clarified juice in stainless steel, and bottling is done as soon as possible.  All to maintain freshness and preserve the delicacy of the fruit.

Variety:  100% Riesling
District:  Mount Gambier
Alcohol:  11.7%
750mL

The Poacher

Wild-Game Poacher-front-png

The Poacher got its name because we hand picked the fruit around the posts where the machine harvester missed – so it felt like poaching!

Deliciously decadent, rich and complex, The Poacher 2009 is our first fortified shiraz release.

We have lovingly barrel aged this wine for over 10 years.

Lifted aromas of mulberry and black plum with caramel and almonds complement a palate of dried apricots and caramelised butter.

We would recommend you enjoy this wine at the end of a good meal served with a cheese platter, or alternatively sitting by a raging fire on cold winters day. Bliss.

Variety:  Shiraz
District:  Coonawarra
Alcohol:  19.0%
