The Duchess
The Duchess 2021 Riesling
Winestate Magazine: In the top 5 Rieslings for 2021, 97 points, 4.5 stars. Wine Orbit: 95 points, 5 stars.
Grown in the magnificent volcanic soils near Mount Gambier in the Limestone Coast of South Australia.
Colour: Very light straw with greenish edge
Bouquet: Perfumed and delicate apple and orange blossoms
Palate: Flavours are of apple and mandarin with balanced acidity.
Cellaring: There will be plenty of time to enjoy this wine. High natural acidity will keep it fresh and vibrant for the next three to seven years.
Vinification: Machine harvest during the cool early hours of the morning is delayed until the acidity in the grapes drops to a palatable level. By this time the flavours have developed nicely. Fermentation is cool and slow with clarified juice in stainless steel, and bottling is done as soon as possible. All to maintain freshness and preserve the delicacy of the fruit.
