QWine Reviews The Duke and The Dame

We are very excited to share some more great reviews with you, but first, a little bit for the history buffs.

Cabernet Sauvignon was the first wine we produced from our own, biologically farmed vineyards in the world-renowned Coonawarra region. Initially made for our own enjoyment and shared with family and friends. It was soon made evident that this wine was worthy of much more. (read more in About Us)

So, in 2012, Wild Game Wine was born with our first cabernet sauvignon release “The Duke”. When QWine reviewed it, they said it could be the bargain of the year, with eight years bottle age.

We feel extremely proud when we hear that our wines are well-received and enjoyed, and very grateful to all who share the fruits of our labour.

Our current vintage, 2014, received accolades from Winestate Magazine on its release in 2021, and then again in their 2021 Cabernet & Bordeaux Challenge, where it topped its category in the blind tasting.

Well, this week we received a QWine review of The Duke 2014 vintage and are absolutely thrilled with the resulting 95/100 and .

Some snippets from this review are “Silky with satin-like feels, blackberries and cassis show strong form” and It’s quite the class act for the money and an even better wine than the 2012 release”. You can read the full review here: QWine Reviews – Australian Wine Reviews: Wild Game The Duke Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Not to be outdone, The Dame 2014 Shiraz has also been celebrated with 94/100. This is the amazing start of that review: “The value this represents given the age is exceptional. A quality Coonawarra Shiraz hands down. All you are doing here is winning.”

Fun fact about our Shiraz vineyard… it is completely dry grown. Thats right, we don’t irrigate those vines at all. So not only are all of our vineyards biologically farmed, but we only irrigate when absolutely necessary.

We hope that you love ‘our Duke and Dame’ as much as we (and QWine) do!

Hello Sonia, thanks so much for your kind review. Unfortunately, The Duke 2014 is sold out. However, we’ve had some wonderful reviews on The Duke 2019 [ https://wildgamewine.com.au/news/rave-review-for-2019-duke/ ] and also have a limited museum release of The Duke 2013 which you may enjoy.

Sam Kim from WineOrbit gave The Duke 2013 95 points and said, “Gorgeously complex and fragrant, the wine shows dark berry, tobacco, game, dark spice and cedary oak characters on the nose. The palate delivers excellent weight and plush texture, wonderfully framed by layers of chalky tannins, making it superbly structured and harmonious with a sustained robust finish.”

      We hope this helps!
